However, there are certain sectors of the elderly, such as older people who suffer from deafness, which have a vacuum on this issue that is slowly adapting remedying and telecare to this group of people.

Currently, there are in Spain, almost half a million people over 65 who have a hearing problem. For this reason, it has created the “Plan Avanza”, Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, where it is working intensively in order to solve the problems that older people have to suffer deaf with conventional remote assistance . This initiative is already almost fully developed and with it will result in solving the problem entirely inaccessible telecare. However, please note that not be implemented in all elderly people suffering from deafness, this service will only have available those living alone.

The system integrates telecare for elderly deaf vibrations, lights and videointerpretación systems of signs and video call, making it easier and equates the benefit of remote assistance to people without the problem of deafness. The user has a video call unit that is connected to the television and allows, through sign language, pictograms or pictures, communicate with people from Red Cross.

The Technology Review website compiled five of the most important advances in biomedicine during 2009, studies on the genetics of cancer to improve treatment, into sound waves to reduce risks in surgery and the greatest challenge was the need for rapid vaccine against Influenza AH1N1 are part of that count.

Cancer genomic code. In October 2009 it announced that it had decoded the genome of two common types of cancer, lung and skin and thus help to have a genetic profile of different types that exist. A map of this disease could not only prevent but also according to genes, providing the most appropriate treatment for the patient.

Know the behavior of cancer cells would help, for example, that physicians provide situations in which metastasis occurs and thus, according to the patient’s genetic profile to attack the disease more adequately.

A drug that increases longevity in mammals. A study conducted in mice may help slow the effects of aging in humans too. The drug called Rapamycin, commonly used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs was analyzed and found that can help to increase 9 to 13% of life expectancy in mammals. Currently not used in humans but the discovery of this effect would help develop similar treatments.

Influenza Vaccines AH1N1. The appearance, during the month of April, this new strain of influenza virus forced health authorities around the world to find a vaccine. It was the first time that pharmaceutical companies were forced to get a quick solution from cells, unlike regular vaccines made from egg.

New drugs have been based insect cells such as caterpillars, another vaccine was developed from a particular protein of the virus and not with a deactivated or weakened version of it. The U.S. company Protein Sciences was responsible for conducting investigations.

Discover origin of the IQ. One study showed that intelligence depend on people who weave their networks rather than neurons in brain size or the number of cells possessing. The white matter that covers the neuronal wiring, would have a definite role in the degree of intelligence mentioned research.

Brain Surgery with sound. InSightec The company designed a high-density ultrasound allows the emotion of damaged tissue from the brain waves that pierce the skull, thereby avoiding complicated traditional surgeries.

HIFU waves can also be used for deep neural processing in the brain, like Parkinson’s disease could be treated with this sound wave technology.

Researchers at the University of Reading, England, say that drinking two glasses of champagne a day provides benefits for the heart. The blood circulation and improve vein function by ingesting this drink in moderation. So says a statement released by the university on its website.

The antioxidants contained in the champagne, the same way that chocolate and red wine, reduces wear which produce free radicals in cells. In addition, lower blood pressure. As a result, moderate and regular intake of champagne, red wine or chocolate reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. This was reported the British newspaper The Guardian.

The antioxidants studied are part of the chemistry of polyphenols and have been found in dark grapes, but not in the clear. Thus, red wine and champagne are beneficial for the heart and not the white wine, reports British newspaper Telegraph.

The champagne is a drink of sparkling wine made from the combination of two types of dark grape, the pinot noir and pinot meunier, plus a clear kind of grapes, the chardonnay. His name is unique to the region of France that shares its name, Champagne, northeast of the Gallic country.

A study conducted in New Zealand showed that adults who grow up in an environment of stress and adversity are often more prone to disorders such as depression, hypertension and high cholesterol, reports the site ScienceDaily.

According to information obtained, adults who had psychological and social adversity in childhood may have abnormal function of their emotional profiles, immunological and metabolic help explain why they have age-related diseases.

This research was conducted by experts from King’s College London and was to analyze thousand cases of 37 patients who entered the Multidisciplinary Health and Development Study, a study that took place 35 years ago in Dunedin New Zealand city, and the consequences of which were published in the December 2009 edition of the journal Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine.

For a year, April 1972 March 1973, these children, all with three years of age were subjected to three types of aversive stimuli: low socioeconomic level, abuse and isolation. When participants met 32 years were analyzed to find whether they were likely to suffer depression, inflammation at the cellular and metabolic risk factors such as obesity, increased blood pressure and high cholesterol.

The results showed that people who had experienced any of these traumatic events in childhood increased the likelihood of having an illness related to the above risks, according to these findings, 31% of cases of depression in adults, 13% of cellular inflammation and 32% of patients with metabolic risks presented by these sufferings because of problems in childhood.

The study authors mention that the effects of adverse childhood experiences are cumulative and independent of the influence the development of other risks inherent in people’s lives as family history, low birth weight or childhood obesity.

The research findings claim that all those long psychological and pathological processes that lead to the emergence of diseases could have their onset during childhood of people. “Promoting healthy social and psychological experiences is a necessary objective and cost effective for the prevention of age-related diseases” refers to the article.

Soybeans originated in China and is one of the plants that makes the body more human proteins, contains 36.5% protein compared to 20% of meat and 12.5% of the egg. The consumption of soy products provides health benefits and reduce the chances of heart disease and osteoporosis, the site mentions naturalinea.com.

A recent study conducted by the Medical Center of Vanderbilt University, USA and published in the December issue of the Journal of American Medical Association shows that isoflavone estrogen-like substance that for some time was associated with cell growth cancer, is not a risk for patients with breast cancer.

The research was conducted in China and was to study for four years to 5 thousand women diagnosed with this condition. It took into account factors such as treatment, lifestyle and diet. After analyzing the effect of a daily intake of 11 grams of soy protein, it was found that women who followed this recommendation, the percentage of occurrence in both deaths as decreased relapse.

The women ate a quarter-cup of tofu, a traditional Chinese food including high soy content. Those who regularly consumed the result was decreased by 29% the possibility that the disease had a fatal outcome in women who had recovered the chances of relapse decreased by 32% according to what the site mentions HealthNews . com.

The scientists found no evidence for that consumption of soy products result in risks for cancer patients with positive rate of estrogen receptor, as was believed for some time. The study, however, found similar effects between treatment with tamoxifen and a high consumption of soy products.

Dr. Xiao Ou Shiu, who led the study, mentions this: “From this research we can not conclude that there are no possible negative elements present in soy, since some of them are unknown even their effects on patients. “

Read the time to be in the bathroom is a common practice in many people, but to do it regularly causes harm to health as hemorrhoids, publishes publico.es site.

According to investigations conducted by the group of Advanced Medical Specialists Hemhorroid belonging to corporate medical services Sensitive Care, read on the toilet promotes the growth of hemorrhoids which are dilations of the veins found in the anal canal anatomically pads are kind of mechanism operating in the containment of stool.

When they become inflamed causing a burning sensation and pain, bleeding and in severe cases can be a symptom of colon cancer so it is important to address them in time. Depending on the type of expansion is detected, treatment can range from the use of creams and medications to surgery if they are larger, mention the portal entornomedico.org.

There are different reasons why people can get migraines, constipation, gastrointestinal disease recurrence, standing or sitting for long periods and pregnancy. Staying longer than necessary at the time of evacuation is a factor that increases the likelihood that appear.

Dr. David Gutman, director of the group, said this: “Sitting on the toilet too long can increase the pressure on these pads in the rectum, increasing the chance of hemorrhoids are generated. The stools should be swift and, once we are done cleaning or sit down and stop being on the open toilet.
